Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Nurse to join our Chemotherapy Day Service as band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse on a full time (37.5hrs) and permanent basis. Our core hours are 08:00am to 19:00pm Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will co-manage the Chemotherapy Day Units at Pontefract and Dewsbury (dependant on shift requirement) so must be able to work at both sites.
If you are chemotherapy trained, possess a valid (in date) SACT Passport, have a minimum of 3 years experience in a cancer care environment, are used to working several tasks at once and can keep calm under pressure, then we would love to hear from you.
We welcome applications from existing band 6 nurses who are up for an exciting and interesting challenge. Band 5 nurses who have significant experience of deputising for their Ward Manager, have undertaken managerial tasks and have supervised staff in their current role may also apply.
You will play a pivotal role in service excellence to our patients, our staff, and the implementation of agreed systems and processes. We are a strong and supportive management team, braced with a band 7 Senior Sister, several band 6 Sisters, numerous experienced Chemotherapy Nurses, Health Care Assistants and admin staff.

Main duties of the job
Checking patient treatments on clinical systems - resolving queries.
Overseeing daily workloads on the Chemo Unit - prioritising patient treatments and staff tasks.
Monitor clinical and office environments on the Day Unit and promote tidy, clear spaces to enable efficient and safe practice.
Managing staff behaviours professionally and discreetly, conducting appraisals, performing sickness management tasks, documenting all events.
Raising and responding to Datix incidents.
