Job summary
Applications are invited for the post of Apprentice Radiographer. We are looking for forward thinking and
enthusiastic Apprentice Radiographer who want to join our
existing team of dedicated Radiographers and Assistant Practitioner
Radiographers.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete; work-based, online,
self-directed learning as outlined in the university prospectus. This is initially a fixed term contract for the duration of the
apprenticeship with milestones set. All course fees will be paid for by the Trust. The apprentice will
achieve a Degree in BSc (hons) Diagnostic Radiography Apprenticeship Degree.
Applicants
must be eligible and willing to undertake a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship and
hold Certificates or
Diplomas of Higher Education (Cert HE; Dip HE), Foundation Degrees (FD) or
equivalent and Level 3 qualifications or equivalent to meet HEI entry
requirements.
There
is an eligibility criteria for government funded apprenticeships which requires
the applicant to be aged 16+, be a resident in the UK/EU for the last three
years. Applicants cannot have achieved a qualification at level 6 or
above in the same
pathway as this will exempt them from being able to
undertake the apprenticeship.
Candidates applying must have the required
qualifications as documented in the personal specification. Furthermore, an
expectation from the prospect degree apprentice of enthusiasm, commitment and
pro-activeness is essential.
Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the
radiography team responsible for producing high quality images within the
radiology service.
The post holder will be working
towards this job description whilst undertaking a training scheme over 36
months, under supervision, to achieve a BSc (hons) Diagnostic Radiography
Apprenticeship Degree.
Apprentices will be workplace based for four days (30 hours)
per week and 1 day (7.5 hours) will be protected study time either locally or
at the associated Higher Education Institution (HEI). Attendance of training at
the associated HEI is considered to be essential and annual leave must be
arranged outside these sessions.
The post holder will fulfil all
tasks and work as part of a team responsible for providing an efficient imaging
service in the Diagnostic Imaging Department. To meet the needs of the service,
the post holder may be required to work in other areas and hospitals as
appropriate, as directed by the line manager. It may be necessary to attend
other Imaging Departments to gain sufficient experience in some modalities.

notes together with the Health and Safety at Work Act are understood and
adhered to in respect of staff, patients and members of the public.

competence, adhering to the MYHT Radiation Safety Policy and national and local
standard operating procedures/protocols.

To immediately report any fault errors following
departmental processes and highlight to the supervising radiographer.

To communicate effectively with patients and

to gain co-operation.
