We are seeking a
Band 3 occupational therapy assistant (OTA) for a part time role working 18 hours per week within our friendly and well-established Children's Therapy team.
This is the perfect opportunity for an OTA looking to develop their experience
and broaden their skillset.

The successful
applicant will have previous experience of work with children preferably in the UK health or educational sector. The children and young people we work with have
physical disability, health or significant sensory processing needs that affect
them in their daily lives. You will need a kind, friendly and positive nature
and the ability to support qualified therapists in delivering occupational
therapy. You will be comfortable working with children and families from a
variety of backgrounds. You will have strong communication skills and the
ability to use the recording systems associated with clinical care. You will
need to adjust your communication to the needs of our service users and their
families. You must be confident in communicating in person, over the phone or
in writing. You will use your own car to support visits into the community

Main duties of the job
You
will support qualified therapists to support assessment processes and
interventions to children from 0-19 years of age in both community and hospital
settings. You will lone work during some home visits
You
will set up and monitor special seating for growth under the direction of occupational therapists
You
will set up other items of specialist equipment associated with postural care,
moving and handling, personal care of the child
You
will use approved moving and handling techniques to support children with
physical needs as required
You
will demonstrate occupational therapy programs to children and carers
You
will carry out some packages of intervention with direction from occupational
therapists
You
will support discharge planning from the children's ward with direction from
occupational therapists
You
will record your clinical care within the healthcare record in keeping with
trust processes
You
will support audit and service development processes
You
will also be required to assist in preparation of resources to support
qualified occupational therapist inclusive of the maintenance of departmental
resources and use and set up of specialised equipment

will participate in clinical supervision
You
will attend the mandatory training process for this role
