Job summary
Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is looking for
a motivated and enthusiastic experienced Midwife to provide clinical leadership
to our Maternity department. The Triage manager will work a combination
of both clinical and management days to support the department with your leadership
and clinical expertise.
Approximately 5,400 women each year
choose to birth at Mid-Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. We provide antenatal,
intrapartum and postnatal care across the Wakefield district and North
Kirklees. We offer four choices of place of birth: home, freestanding birth
centre at Dewsbury District Hospital, alongside birth centre and consultant-led
delivery suite in Wakefield
At Mid Yorkshire we are
continuing to implement the National maternity Transformation Programme
alongside our colleagues in the local maternity System (LMS) the Maternity
Voices Partnership (MVP) and other community partners
We have recently successfully implemented the unique safety too for Triage,
Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System which enables midwives to see women promptly and confidently support clinical care priorities. And as a
CQC rated Good Maternity service we look forward to continue to improve

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for effective and smooth running of the 4 bedded triage department, this service runs 24 hours per day and 7 days a week.
The manager will bring a positive risk culture that promotes the safety and well being of women and families.

JOB PURPOSE
- To ensure the Triage department runs effectively and smoothly 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. To create an environment that ensures a positive risk culture that promotes the safety of women and their families
- To provide professional and managerial leadership, support and direction for all staff employed within the Triage department.
- To delegate lead roles to the core team and to be responsible for ensuring these roles are supported and carried out effectively.
- To undertake to oversee continual improvement of the service in response to National directives in line with Clinical Governance principles and continuous quality improvements of patient care.
- Contribute to strategic direction, business planning, project work and commissioning of services.
- To provide Midwifery leadership, advice and support to all Midwives employed within the Trust, ensuring excellence in practice within the statute as promulgated by the NMC and Department of Health.
- To work in partnership with the Trust Risk Management Team.
- To maintain, manage and develop a safe environment for staff patients and visitors and adhere to the Trust Risk Management Policy.
