Job summary
Dewsbury Hospital is home to the MY Cafe which is a Volunteer run Cafe in the heart of a busy hospital. The MY Cafe has two Cafes on the DDH Site and this role will cover both.
The MY Cafe provides hot drinks and refreshments to patients, visitors and staff. The Cafe is run by a small staff team and a large team of 20 plus volunteer. This is an includisve and space safe where voluteerers get a great expereince and work closely as a team.
This role will be joining the Cafe Staff Team to support the volunteers. The MY Cafe is part of the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust's Voluntary Services Team winch recruits and supports the Trust 300+ volunteers who give up their time weekly to support hospital site users.
Main duties of the job
To maintain the voluntary services café and retail outlets at Dewsbury Hospital. This also includes the second outlet in Bronte towers.
To carry out administration duties in a manner that supports departmental targets and ensures compliance with standard operating procedures.

Job responsibilities
- Responsible for the day to day running of the outlet.
- Determine stock levels for cafe outlet i.e. tea, coffee, biscuits, sandwiches to maintain a constant supply
- Rotate stock to prevent wastage within the café/shop and storage areas.
- Take part in intermittent stock checks.
- Keep outlet and storage areas clean and tidy, maintaining cleaning Rotas.
- Ensure fridges are kept clean and tidy and maintain temperature charts.
- Ensure delivery notes, communications and donations for the café are securely filed and relayed to voluntary services / café coordinator.
- Liaising with external suppliers regarding shortfalls etc.
- Responsible for informing Line Manager of price alterations; ensure price changes are implemented.
- Counting daily takings from the previous day and investigating any discrepancies.
- Maintain record of daily takings using reconciliation sheets. Ensuring takings are taken to General Office for Security.
- Responsible for ensuring floats are organised in line with café financial processes.
- Maintain monthly data of cafe income using computer systems.
- Support volunteers in the duties
- Maintain volunteer Rota ensuring cover for holidays and sickness.
- Responsible for training new volunteers within the café / shop i.e. till, stock rotation, cleanliness and customer care.
- Encourage cleanliness and Health and Safety.
