Job summary
We
are seeking to recruit 2 gynaecologists to strengthen our gynaecology team
in
preparation for the opening of our new surgical hub to provide efficient and
high-quality care to women living across Wakefield and North Kirklees.
We
have state of the art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and are building a
new surgical hub including gynaecology at Dewsbury Hospital. Within the
gynaecology services, we have a dedicated Gynaecology assessment unit on the
Pinderfields site and offer a wide range of comprehensive to our patients
including:
- A
BSGE Regional Endometriosis centre
- Dedicated
Gynaecology assessment unit in Pinderfields
- Outpatient
clinics for Menopause, Colposcopy, Uro-gynaecology, Endometriosis,
Hysteroscopy, Minor procedures and Post-menopause Bleeding.
- Gynaecology
oncology unit, working with Leeds Teaching Hospital Oncology teams.
- Elective
surgery at Pinderfields and Dewsbury Hospitals with access to Da Vinci Robots
on both sites.
- Elective
Obstetric suites in Pinderfields Hospital.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the post
will include;
General
Gynaecology Clinics - 9.00 13.00/13.30 17.30
Regular Gynaecology day case and inpatient operating lists
will ensure staff maintain their emergency gynaecology skills
Administrative duties, for which appropriate office space and
secretarial support is provided
DCC is allocated for MDTs which are
annualised
Hot week cover for acute Gynaecology 08:00 18:00 hrs,
Monday to Friday (1.5 pas) During Hot
week this includes undertaking ward rounds.
Consultant pre and post-op ward
rounds are allocated in the DCC for theatre sessions which are annualised
On-call duties for Gynaecology only shared with 14
colleagues on an approximately 1 in 8 basis (17:30 hours until 08:00 hours
during weekdays off site cover and 08:00 to 11.00 hours during weekends on site
cover) typically non-patient-facing duties on a post-call day. On call (non resident) is paid at Band A.
Supporting Professional Activities in accordance with the
Trust Framework, with at least a
minimum of 1.5 SPAs included in the core 10PA timetable. Additional SPA or DCC
time may be commissioned in line with the skills of the successful candidate
and changing requirements of the service.
