Job summary
The Dermatology department at Mid Yorkshire
Teaching NHS Trust (MYTT) comprises medical, nursing and admin staff over three
sites at Dewsbury Hospital, Pinderfields Hospital, and Pontefract General
Infirmary. The successful applicant will
join the existing consultants to form a team of 5 Consultant Dermatologists, 1
Clinical Assistant and 2 Specialty Doctors.
The CNS team have Specialist skills in Cancer and skin surgery,
prescribing and biologic monitoring.
The MYTT is part of the Yorkshire Cancer
Network. MY is the central base for the
regional Burns Unit, with whom Dermatology has developed close liaison with the
Plastic Surgeons. Our excellent facilities provide well equipped clinic rooms,
operating theatres, treatment rooms, phototherapy and photodynamic
therapy. The Skin Cancer IOG
requirements are in keeping with national standards with regular local and
specialist multidisciplinary team meetings.
The Trust is an active participant in the West Yorkshire Cancer
Alliance.
Main duties of the job
Provision
of care to patients in the Dermatology departments
Referral
of patients to other specialities as appropriate
In
conjunction with senior colleagues to have responsibility for ward referrals on
a rota basis
Out-patient
activities/clinics dependent on the needs of patients
Minor
surgery to include biopsies, curettage and excisions with direct closure
Involvement
in relevant multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
Involvement
in relevant administration duties
Teaching
and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
Active
involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement
activities
