Duties will
be based in the Neuro rehabilitation service at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals (including
inpatient/ outpatient in Dewsbury Hospital, in reach at Pinderfields General
Hospital) and the Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre
based at Pinderfields General Hospital, Wakefield, although all our medical
staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites.
You will
join a team of Consultants in Neurosciences including a Consultant in
Neurological Rehabilitation, Staff Grade in Neurological Rehabilitation,
Consultant in Spinal Injuries, Consultant Neurologists, Consultant
Neuropsychologists, a Consultant Physiotherapist Consultants in Clinical
Neurophysiology, and a number of Clinical Nurse Specialists. There is a service
level agreement with the Barnsley inpatient service, providing Consultant
Support from the existing Consultant in Neurological Rehabilitation. There are close working relationships with
hospital and community therapy teams.
Main duties of the job
The main
duties of the post include the following to
Participate in providing leadership and direction to the Neuro
Rehabilitation Services and Yorkshire Regional Spinal Injuries Centre, including
supervision of the Neurological Rehabilitation inpatient Unit, and outpatient
clinics.
Promote a close working relationship between all those who
collectively form the Neuro Rehabilitation team and the Spinal Injuries Centre
Multi-Disciplinary Team and lead the activities of this team.
Participate fully in the Trusts clinical Governance framework.
Participate in all clinical research and audit undertaken in
the services
Participate fully in the teaching of medical, nursing and
paramedical professionals at all levels and specifically in the supervision,
training and development of junior medical staff working in or attached Neuro
Rehabilitation.
To undertake managerial and budgetary duties, as appropriate.
To be able to contribute to rehabilitation surgical
procedures as necessary
On-call duties (category B) are
currently shared with the other Spinal Injuries Consultant in a 1:4 ratio
To participate in the Local and regional meetings. There is a
strong network of Rehabilitation medicine services in South and West Yorkshire
and a regular programme of CPD and clinical governance.
