our Podiatry team as a Band 6 Podiatrist working within
an organisation that has been recognised and accredited with Teaching status
and an Investors in People award. This role will be a community-based position, working out of GP surgeries and visiting patient's homes when required.
We are looking for dynamic, passionate and committed
Podiatrists' with demonstrable post-registration experience, including
treatment of the at risk foot. The
post holder will be an enthusiastic and conscientious team worker who is able
to prioritise their workload. They will have
excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be required to
provide a range of high quality podiatric interventions in a variety of
community clinical, GP and domicillary settings throughout the Wakefield
district delivering high quality patient centred care. The post holder will be required to liaise
with other health professionals and be able to use their own initiative together
with the ability to respond in a professional manner towards patients,
relatives and staff at all levels.

Main duties of the job
Working as part of the Podiatry team you will develop and implement clinically effective Podiatry interventions to the population covered by Podiatry. The post holder is required to act as an autonomous practitioner using their clinical expertise, decision making and problem solving skills to provide a high quality service.
The post holder will have individual responsibility in a range of care settings for a patient caseload i.e., complex needs using appropriate assessment techniques and equipment to assess, plan, implement and evaluate podiatry interventions. This will be delivered to a range of high risk patients including those with diabetes, vascular disease, chronic neuropathy, chronic disease e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, terminally ill patients and other complex medical health care needs in accordance with professional/Trust policies and guidelines.

To work single handed, or as part of the primary healthcare team,
liaising with podiatrists / other healthcare professionals / organisations
using a variety of communication mediums to ensure all appropriate agencies are
aware of assessment, treatment / advice offered to patients as and when
appropriate, to maximise treatment outcomes for patients (e.g. secondary
referral to consultants in secondary care / x-ray investigations, surgical appliance
department, podiatry assistant) and raise the profile of the service / profession;

To provide accurate and timely information around
patient activity on a daily basis for system 1 to support the podiatry
appointments office and performance management requirements of the service;
- To contribute to and
participate in service developments e.g. development of policies, standards,
service planning process to ensure excellent service provision;
- Responsible for the
maintenance of timely, accurate, comprehensive patient notes which reflect the
interventions delivered. Ensuring that they are in accordance with National /
Trust / Departmental guidelines for best practice in defensible records
management;
- Where identified, to
provide flexible clinical cover for colleagues in primary care as and when
required to maintain service delivery.
Use specialised knowledge gained through experience and post graduate
qualifications to provide flexible clinical cover as requested by Podiatry
Management. Ensuring that skills are
maintained by ongoing education and clinical rotations;
- Using recommendations
for best clinical practice, assist the service in the modernisation and audit
of effective clinical services for patients;
- To have individual
responsibility in a range of care settings for a patient caseload i.e., complex
needs using appropriate assessment techniques and equipment to assess, plan,
implement and evaluate podiatry interventions.

Podiatric interventions e.g. knowledge and manufacture of and appropriate use
of orthotics, footwear advice, health education advice / patient empowerment,
scalpel debridement, minor surgical techniques e.g. nail surgery.

effective time management skills in the day to day management of a patient
caseload by ensuring sufficient driving and travel time to arrive at
clinics/homes by the agreed appointment time to deliver clinical packages of
care to patients.
