Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time position as a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist within Pelvic Health Perinatal conditions including MSK. This post will be working within a dynamic and friendly Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Team under the Physiotherapy Service at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. The service is delivered by the team of therapists and the clinical leads across the three hospital sites within the trust.

At Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, we provide an extensive physiotherapy service for our patients with pelvic health problems. We have strong links with other therapy teams as well as the wider MDT within urogynaecology, gynaecology, urology, colorectal and midwifery. The team is currently expanding due to the roll out of local Perinatal Pelvic Health Services and the successful candidate will have a key role in setting up and delivering this service alongside the clinical leads.

The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role in the delivery of the perinatal pelvic health physiotherapy service, including MSK related conditions .They will also plan and deliver treatment programmes for complex patients with pelvic floor dysfunction, including bladder, bowel, prolapse and pelvic pain symptoms.

This post will play a key role in reviewing pathways for patients within pelvic health physiotherapy, auditing and developing other team members to deliver a high-quality therapy service for patients to ensure best practice.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will deputise for the APP Clinical leads as required, supporting in the delivery of service improvements and providing specialist clinical knowledge in relation to service development.

The successful candidate will lead appropriate education and training of therapy staff and other health care professionals including GPs, consultants and other AHPs with the clinical leads and other Senior Specialist Physiotherapists, and you will be responsible for the supervision of more junior Physiotherapists within the team.

  • To deliver Physiotherapy input to patients referred into the MYTT pelvic health service. This will include the triage and assessment of new patients to determine their diagnosis and management. Referrals are accepted from GPs, Midwives and relevant consultant led services both within and outside of the Mid Yorkshire area.
  • To assess ante-natal and post-natal patients presenting with MSK related symptoms and conditions using clinical knowledge and skills and holding a clinical caseload which will include specialist assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of these patients.

  • To coordinate perinatal related MSK condition physiotherapy input to patients referred into the MYTT Physiotherapy service. This will include the delivery of clinics, groups and virtual groups across three hospital sites.
