Full-Time (37.5
hours) Physiotherapist - Neuro (BAND 6)
An exciting opportunity
has arisen within the Wakefield Community (MY Therapy) team to recruit an
experienced and highly motivated full-time Band 6 Neuro Physio
The MY Therapy team is
a large MDT incorporating Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Dietitians
and Technical Instructors providing rehabilitation in patients own homes and also
our intermediate care bedded facility within the Wakefield District. The MY
Therapy Neuro service also runs out patient therapy clinics and group rehabilitation
classes across the district.
The successful candidate
will work within the services Neuro team to provide rehabilitation to
individuals with a neurological disorder preventing unnecessary admissions to
hospital and facilitating timely discharges from hospital. The MY Therapy
Neuro service comprises of an Early Supported Discharge (ESD) for Stroke
service and a Neurological Rehabilitation service.
The position will
provide an excellent opportunity to be involved in an established neuro rehab
team but also as part of a large rehabilitation service.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the delivery of a
specialised Physiotherapy service within the Neurological rehabilitation
team of the MY Therapy rehabilitation service utilising in-depth theoretical and
clinical skills.
To independently and effectively self manage a
caseload of patients with complex needs within the Neurological rehabilitation
specialty using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan,
implement and evaluate interventions in order to minimise disability and
maximise independence for independent living.
To provide leadership, supervision, and
appraisal for junior and non-qualified staff and also students.
To participate in the planning, development and
evaluation of Physiotherapy Services within the MY Therapy service,
holding responsibility for defined projects.
To be flexible in your approach and use of
treatment media in order to work across various locations and settings as
determined by the needs of the Community Neurological Rehabilitation Service.

Clinical Duties/Patient Contact
- To be professionally and legally accountable for
all aspects of own practice, including the management of individuals in your
care.

caseload within the Community neurological rehabilitation speciality.

own practice and make referrals to other agencies.

rehabilitation.

provide a rapid specialist Physiotherapy assessment and comprehensive risk
assessment, using a high level of clinical reasoning skills to formulate an
appropriate care pathway to prevent unnecessary hospital admission or
facilitate safe and timely discharges.
- To
be flexible to work in a variety of clinical settings i.e. Accident and
Emergency, Fracture Clinic, Medical Assessment unit, Residential/Nursing Home,
Resource Centres and in the community settings(patients home).
- To
be flexible to cover for the co-ordinator of Intermediate Care Service in times
of absence to act as a gate keeper to the services.
- To
provide a specialist Physiotherapy opinion to the co-ordination team on the
suitability and appropriateness of potential patients/referrals to the
Intermediate Care service and the neurological element of the service.
- Following
a comprehensive specialist Physiotherapy and risk assessment give accurate
feedback and advice to relevant staff i.e. GP, medical staff, nurses,

and family/carers.
