Adult Community Services at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust are looking for Healthcare Support Workers to join our District Nursing teams across Wakefield and the surrounding areas.

We are looking to appoint highly motivated health care support workers who have a passion for delivering safe, high quality care to patients in the community setting.

With a variety of clinical settings you would gain a wealth of knowledge and experience. We will support you to develop through our comprehensive preceptorship program, we have excellent electronic facilities to support your learning and development.

Main duties of the job

  • At the direction of the Registered Nurse, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care, using a wide range of clinical skills, including administration of medications and complex wound care.
  • Involve patients and carers/relatives in delivery of patient care.
  • Following appropriate training and education, supervision and completion of competencies.
  • Provide a high standard of care to patients in a number of community settings.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Participate in the maintenance of accurate records of care.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures and clinical guidelines for self and others.
  • Develop own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship will all members of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Assist with the induction of new Health Care Assistants.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Support peoples equality, diversity and rights.
