An
excellent opportunity has arisen for 1 full-time (37.5 hour per week Monday to Friday) and 1 part-time (21.5 hour per week - working pattern to be agreed) band 4 Occupational Therapy Technical
Instructor on a permanent contract basis.
Wakefield
Adult and Family Services, in partnership with Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS
Trust, provides community-based assessments for disabled and vulnerable
residents within Wakefield District.
Ideally
you will be an experienced and motivated clinician who can adapt to become part
of the Community Occupational Therapy team.
The
team supports clients aged 18 years and upwards that require assessment
of need to facilitate their day to day living activities as
well as living in a safe and secure environment. As defined by the Care Act
2014. Our Clients can have complex health needs, be transitioning young adults,
require palliative care, memory problems, and dementia and/or have learning disabilities.
The
successful candidate will hold their own case load and manage their own appointments.
They will independently complete risk assessments, determine equipment
provision, facilitate minor adaptation requests and make referrals to other
relevant services.
The
occupational team will support your continual professional development with
regular supervision and relevant training.

Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist the post holder will be expected to:
- To provide support and assistance to occupational therapists in the delivery of an occupational therapy service to clients within the community.
- To independently carry out initial assessments as designated by a registered therapist/AHP as part of non-complex clinical pathways.
- Support with the triage cases from social care direct.
- To be responsible for a client caseload and follow up treatment visits within patients homes, assessment centre at Castleford or other relevant settings
- To be responsible for a delegated caseload of clients, prioritized by an occupational therapist as being appropriate for the intervention of a technical instructor in accordance with the Care Act 2014 operated by Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.
- Use specialist technical skills and knowledge to provide flexible, client centred packages of care for clients with a variety of physical, psychological, social and environmental needs.

responsible for managing a caseload of clients identified by an occupational
therapist, using technical/creative skills to enable clients to maintain
independence and well-being.
- To independently
carry out initial interviews and formal Occupational Therapy assessments and
intervention in a variety of settings with clients referred to the community

reports on clients occupational functioning and formulate recommendations for
specialist equipment and adaptations.
- Undertake

equipment and adaptations.

the adjustment and alteration of specific items of equipment in line with
appropriate health and safety guidelines.

service by undertaking delegated tasks which contribute to the safe and smooth
running of the service.
