An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team as Unit Manager of the Wakefield Intermediate Care Unit, based at Pontefract Hospital.
The Wakefield Intermediate Care Unit is a 22-bedded Unit that provides short term inpatient care to people who need extra support, care and rehabilitation following an acute hospital stay.
Our expert multi-disciplinary team includes registered and non-registered nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and a wider support team who work in partnership with our patients and their families to provide the care they need and to support their safe and timely discharge home.
Main duties of the job
As Unit Manager, your responsibilities will include providing senior leadership, clinical expertise, support and advice for the delivery of a consistently high standard of care that meets patient needs and Unit objectives.
You will possess fundamental management and facilitation skills to manage a busy workload and prioritize tasks effectively to ensure the effective operation of the Unit, promote multi-disciplinary working and foster a supportive learning environment.
You will manage the nursing team, acting as a positive role model through the provision of effective professional leadership and demonstration of competent, accountable clinical practice and modelling of Trust values.
Through appropriate staff training and updating, you will ensure that care is evidence-based and delivered by confident practitioners according to Trust policies and procedures.
You will implement and monitor quality assurance initiatives, manage risks within your area of responsibility, and manage budgets and resources.
As a Registered Nurse, you will be expected to consistently act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
