Job summary

The Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU) at Pinderfields and Gate 34 Urology/Gynaecology ward are excited to advertise some new opportunities for Nursing Associates to join our teams.

The Surgical Assessment Unit is a fast paced, high acuity, fast turnover unit which cares for all surgical speciality patients from all three sites. The unit comprises of a Same Day Emergency Care Unit and 27 assessment beds. The unit has a length of stay of 72 hours and provides care to over 1000 surgical patients a month. The successful candidate will be a welcomed into a supportive well established team and be responsible for the delivery of care of those patients.

Gate 34 is a base ward providing care for all urology and gynaecology patients within the trust. The unit is a 38 bedded unit providing highly specialised care to both services. There are multiple training and learning opportunities on the unit and the successful candidate will be welcomed into an established supportive team.

Any necessary formal or informal training and education will be provided in both areas. There are two vacancies in both areas, full and part-time will be considered.

Main duties of the job

  • Be responsible for delivering high quality, patient centred, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence
  • Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values and be an accountable professional
  • Be prepared to undertake additional skills once competent including but not exhaustive; cannulation, venepuncture, ECGs as per training and competency, IV administration.
  • Accurately record nutritional and fluid intake
  • Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual
