Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join our Stroke and Neurology Therapy Team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. This is a 30hourperweek role within a supportive, highly skilled multidisciplinary service.
Our team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists work across two sites:
- Pinderfields Hospital (A2 Acute Stroke / Neurology)
- Dewsbury District Hospital (Wards 5 and 6 Neurology and Stroke Rehabilitation)
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across both units, gaining valuable experience in a range of clinical settings.
You will work alongside exceptionally experienced senior clinicians, developing your skills in the assessment and treatment of people following stroke or neurological events in both acute/hyperacute and rehabilitation environments. The role involves a diverse and rewarding caseload, including complex discharge planning, cognitive rehabilitation, and upper limb rehabilitation.
This is a 7day service, and the post holder will participate in the rota.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
- Manage a neurological caseload using the OT process.
- Complete assessments, deliver interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Prescribe equipment/adaptations and conduct assessments in ward, home, and community settings.
- Adapt communication and treatment for complex needs.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, MDT, and external agencies.
- Participate in MDT planning and provide clear advice on treatment and equipment.
- Maintain accurate clinical records (incl. SystmOne), reports, and statistics.
- Countersign documentation from unregistered staff.
- Ensure practice meets professional/Trust standards.
- Support delegation and supervision of junior staff.
- Contribute to service quality and deputise for seniors
- Support training and supervision of students and staff.
- Contribute to in service education and share CPD learning.
