Job summary
Would you like an exciting opportunity to join our busy yet friendly Audiology team at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust. Our service covers three acute hospital-based sites (Dewsbury and District Hospital, Pinderfields General Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary) plus two out-reach clinics. Our department delivers a high-quality comprehensive hearing and balance diagnostic and rehabilitation service to adults, children and babies with hearing and balance disorders.
In this post your duties will be rewarding and varied undertaking diagnostic hearing assessments and aural rehabilitation for routine patients whilst assisting and supporting senior staff with more complex patients. Our service has strong connections with the University of Leeds supporting and training undergraduate students and junior staff. Further training and development will be encouraged and well supported for you to enhance your skills and develop your knowledge.
Our strong team consists of 33 staff, which include a range of qualified audiologists, associate audiologists, assistant technical officers, newborn hearing screeners and clerical support. Hours can be worked over either 3 to 5 days (Mon to Fri) and covering 28.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
- The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Teaching Trust acknowledges and supports the statements laid down by in the British Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Healthcare Science.
- You are professionally accountable to the British Academy of Audiology and the Academy of Healthcare Science/RCCP, accountable contractually to your employer and accountable to the law for your actions.
- Professional accountability is fundamentally concerned with weighing up the interests of patients and clients in complex situations, using professional knowledge, judgement, and skills to make a decision and enabling you to account for the decision made.
- If you delegate work, your accountability is to make sure that the person who does the work can do it and that the appropriate levels of supervision or support are in place.
