Job summary

We have the opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our progressive Pharmacy Aseptic Services team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust.

The Aseptic Services is responsibility for the preparation of high quality injectable medicines for the patients within our Trust including chemotherapy, nutrition and antibiotic infusions. The Aseptic Services team also work closely with the Pharmacy Research department and actively contribute to the delivery of high quality research within the Trust into new injectable treatments.

The main duties of this role include dispensing and preparation of a range of injectable products within a cleanroom environment, calculating doses and generating worksheets and labels and labelling prepared products as well as communicating with a wide range of people via telephone and email.

As well as being motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate must be able to work methodically, accurately and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and dexterity for the aseptic preparation of products.

Previous experience of working in a hospital Pharmacy is desirable. The closing date for applications will be brought forward if sufficient applications are received.

Main duties of the job

Co-ordination and Receptionist duties (Prescription receipt, distribution, telephone enquiries, filing.

Contribute to the efficient delivery of the Pharmacy Service to Patients and Wards and Departments both within the Trust and other healthcare organisations.

Uphold the Trusts values and behaviours (available on the Trust web site) and behave in a manner fitting with the responsible position of the role, maintaining the public confidence.

Accept prescriptions checking accuracy of patient details.

Assemble, sanitise and prepare a range of injectable medicines including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition

Dispense medicines for patients following guidelines, under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technicians, with the final check by a Checking Technician or Pharmacist.

Ensure that all information needed for accurate stock control, dose banding and prescription issues data is recorded using both paper systems and the computerised Pharmacy Information System (PIS)

Dispense oral and dose banded chemotherapy medicines taking necessary precautions detailed in standard operating procedures Organise and liaise with transport for delivery of medicines off site.
