Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Hepatology at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust for an enthusiastic, forward thinking, and motivated nurse to join this busy service.
The post holder will have the opportunity to gain expert experience and enhance knowledge and skills within the hepatology speciality, as well as develop key advanced CNS skills in an environment supported by an experienced nursing and medical team.
The post holder with work in collaboration with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to assist and coordinate a smooth pathway of care throughout the hepatology service, acting as a resource to patients and their carers.
The post holder will be able to work on their own initiative, working as a team player and autonomously managing a case load of patients, acting as key worker. This role requires excellent communication skills, with the ability to co-ordinate care across differing disciplines and organisations.
Main duties of the job
Work as an independent non- medical prescriber within the area of practice for the CNS role taking responsibility for prescribing a range of drugs within area of competence in accordance with MYHT medicines management policy and BNF
Complete annual declaration of intention to practice non medical prescribing in accordance with MYHT non- medical prescribing governance framework
Co-ordinate and manage nurse-led clinics within Hepatology services.
Liase and in-reach into inpatient wards with regards to Hepatology patients providing treatment, advice support and training.
Work towards Improving Quality in liver Services (IQILS) within MYHT.
Assist in the development of a Paracentesis Service within MYHT.
Co-ordinate patients care through advise line for hepatology patients.

- Responsibility for a defined caseload of patients and will provide an effective and high quality patient-focused service that is sensitive to the needs of users and providers
- Organises, prioritises and evaluates workload based on accepted referral criteria and discharge criteria in line with operational protocols.
- Will provide clinical, social and psychological support to their patient group using advanced communication skills, education and health promotion to enable them to reach an optimum level of independence and health
