Job summary

We have the opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our progressive Pharmacy Research team at Mid Yorkshire Teaching Trust and contribute to the implementation of research and development within the trust. The Pharmacy Research department oversees the implementation and ongoing monitoring of a wide portfolio of both commercial and non-commercial studies. The main duties of this role include dispensing and Investigational Medicinal Products (IMP's) management task, assisting with audits and record keeping, maintaining Pharmacy Site Files and liaising with the trust's Research and Development team and study sponsors to ensure high standards of Clinical Trial set-up and delivery are conducted in accordance with all regulatory and professional standards. The successful applicant will also support the Aseptic Services team by acting as a Cleanroom Operator for the preparation of Chemotherapy, Parenteral Nutrition (PN) and Central Intravenous Additive Service (CIVAS) including Aseptic research preparations. As well as being motivated and enthusiastic, the successful candidate must able to well work under pressure and as part of a team. Previous experience of working in a hospital Pharmacy is desirable. The closing date for applications will be brought forward if sufficient applications are received.

Main duties of the job

Dispense medicines under the supervision of Pharmacy Technicians. Support the Aseptic Services team. Contribute to the efficient delivery of the Pharmacy Service to Patients and Wards and Departments both within the Trust and other healthcare organisations. Accept prescriptions from out-patients, checking accuracy of patient details, before giving a prescription charge slip and a numbered patient identification ticket. Dispense, assemble and prepare aseptic preparations for individual patients. Take payment for prescription charges and generate a receipt when required. Dispense medicines for out-patients and in-patients (including TTOs) following guidelines, under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technicians, with the final check by a Checking Technician or Pharmacist. Issue medicines to out-patients, providing basic information on how to take their medicines, referring to the Technicians if further advice is necessary. Ensure that all information needed for accurate stock control and prescription issues data is recorded using both paper systems and the computerised Pharmacy Information System (PIS). Liaise with Procurement staff about urgently required medicines and inform health care staff about supply problems / delays. Dispense specialist hospital-only medicines and unlicensed medicines which require accurate, detailed records. Dispense oral chemotherapy medicines taking necessary precautions detailed in SOPs.
