Job summary
The post holder will be a valuable part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team who provide effective patient centred care to the spinally injured patient. They will act as the Trusts nursing clinical lead for the Spinal Injury patients. Providing expert tailored treatment, advice, consultation, support and guidance to patients, carers and referring trusts whilst working as a highly skilled, expert and autonomous practitioner liaising within multi-professional teams to promote and provide seamless pathways of care. The post holder will work closely with consultants to manage patients appropriately and gain support and advice to ensure continuity of care.
There are 2 posts available: 1 full time secondment for 2 years, and 1 part time permanent post at 34.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Review current documentation, and if appropriate, develop and facilitate the implementation of guidelines, standards, procedures and protocols which reflect best practice.
Participates in Audit and assists in clinical trials undertaken on the unit.
Maintain a professional appearance in line with the Trust dress code.
Uphold the Trusts values and behaviours of caring, respect, high standards and improving and behave in a manner fitting with the responsible position of the post holder, maintaining the public confidence.
Maintain professional and courteous working relationships with staff and respect the equality and diversity of each and every person he/she comes into contact with in the course of his/her business.

Liaise with other experts in Spinal Cord Injuries, both locally and nationally to ensure development of best practice within the Trust and within the context of the wider health economy.
To be aware of changes in relevant health and social care legislation locally and nationally, ensuring this knowledge is reflected in practice.
Provide leadership, motivation and vision with regard to improving patient/client services in spinal cord injury management, through networking locally and nationally.
Communicate effectively with a wide range of health and social care professionals across professional boundaries.
