The opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor to join our Radiology department to complement the existing team of 40 consultant radiologists in the wider department as we work to deliver the highest quality, sustainable service for our patients. The department offers a supportive and encouraging environment in which to develop as a professional.

This post is offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full time applications will be considered and additional DCC PA may be offered through negotiation depending on service need.

Duties will be primarily based on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites with expectations of potential on-site presence at Dewsbury, Pontefract and/or our Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield.

Main duties of the job

A brief description of the post:

The post is to complement the existing team of 40 consultant radiologists who provide a wide range of subspecialist and general radiological services.

The successful candidate will support and enable the team to deliver a sustainable excellent service throughout the year for patient pathways in the context of increasing demands and service delivery expectations particularly around cancer.

They will report a range of cross-sectional imaging studies and support the weekly Haematology multidisciplinary team (MDT) meeting, along with another colleague on a rotational basis. An overlapping period of mentoring/support can be provided from one of the radiologists who currently supports the Haematology MDT.

General radiology diagnostic skills are essential and the post holder is expected to participate in departmental general radiology workload, including acute CT.

Additional subspecialty interests which complement service need can be accommodated and are welcomed.

The successful applicant will be expected to participate in the diagnostic on-call rota, which currently has 25 participants, with overnight outsourcing of acute CT; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working time regulations and safe working.

There are separate weekend neuroradiology and 7-day non-vascular interventional on call rotas.
