Health Care Support Worker

Job summary

To work as a supportive member of the X-ray and DXA scanning team, supporting the Radiographer to provide excellent patient care.

This role will require you to work at both DDH and the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Wakefield. The interview date for this post is 15th July 2025.

Main duties of the job

Working under the direction of a Radiographer, participate fully in the delivery of planned/acute care of patients attending the radiology service for investigations.

Support the Radiographer. Chaperoning of patients, escorting/ transferring of patients and providing 1-1 patient centred care. Helping patients to get changed, also to weigh and measure patients.

Undertake personal care duties e.g., toileting, dressing, repositioning of patients, and assisting patients with their personal hygiene appearance.

Caring for a group of patients that require enhanced care.

Order supplies under the direction of the department lead.

Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of the environment. Replenish stock within department.

Enter information onto the Radiology information systems.

Arrange portering of patients.

Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
