Job summary
We are seeking to appoint to an Inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist post within Adult Mental Health Services, based in Doncaster. This post would complete our substantive recruitment in our Acute Directorate and join a strong group of substantive Consultants across the Mental Health and Learning Disability Care Group. The Trust provides a comprehensive adult, child, older adult, learning disability, and community forensic mental health services to Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire. It also provides Community Physical Health Services and Substance Misuse Services in Doncaster The team in Doncaster is keen to welcome applications from dynamic psychiatrists with a progressive approach to MDT working, to provide senior medical input to patient care for adults of working age in our Acute Care Pathway. Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within 6 months of completing their CCT and be approved/eligible for approval for Section 12(2) and Approved Clinician status. They should have evidence of good communication skills and a commitment to multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working. The job plan relates to a whole-time appointment with an opportunity to modify this if the post is offered as part-time or job share. The Trust would offer this post to a candidate who is interested in undertaking two years in an acute in-patient role with a view to moving into a community based role after the two years should they wish.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a leading member of the well-established multi-disciplinary team providing Consultant input into the Adult Inpatient Team. We operate a full MDT approach, with strong clinical leadership, and the post holder will work closely with Consultant colleagues in other teams. The Consultant will have a flexible time table designed to respond to the needs of the patients and carers as well as the needs of the team members for support and advice, whilst providing direct delivery of the most complex care. Ideally suited to those with an interest in service development and/or medical education and training.
This would be an ideal post for a new Consultant with a supportive peer group on offer and plenty of opportunity to grow and develop special interests in post.
