Job summary
- To provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients with complex Physiotherapy problems as an autonomous practitioner within clinical speciality area.
- To undertake line management responsibility for staff, within the service area to provide a responsive and effective service.
- To actively support the Team Leader in the operational management of the area and service developments on a local and/or service-wide level.
- To provide clinical education and training.
- To have responsibility for specific projects or initiatives contributing to the overall delivery of the service within a clinical speciality area.
Main duties of the job
- To provide health education, health promotion and prevention advice.
- To provide specialist physiotherapy assessments over a range of conditions and complexities using advanced clinical reasoning to analyse clinical and non-clinical findings to form accurate physiotherapy diagnoses and prognoses.
- To formulate and recommend to others the best course of physiotherapy intervention and/or treatment programmes to meet the agreed goals set with the individual patient/or carer, using evidence based practice and a wide range of treatment skills and options.
- To evaluate patient progress, review goal setting and alter treatment programmes as required.
- To use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication methods to communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential.
- To overcome barriers to appropriate rehabilitation, including communication difficulties, anxiety or motivation.
- To ensure that patient's privacy and dignity are respected at all times
