Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Occupational Therapist to join the Adult community learning disability team in Rotherham. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic practitioner to join our established team which consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists (SLT), Registered Nurses in Learning Disabilities (RNLDs), Support Workers, Physiotherapists, Art Therapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists.

The Rotherham Community Adult Learning Disability Team is a specialist team working to meet the health care needs of adults with learning disabilities in the community.

Main duties of the job

You will work alongside a multi disciplinary team to assess and provide treatment interventions including skills development, specialist equipment and adaptations, multisensory interventions and complex postural assessment, as necessary to promote independence and enhance quality of life for individuals requiring support with activities of daily living, vocational goals and sensory needs. You will work autonomously in community settings such as service users own homes, day services, colleges and in the local community.

In order to deliver this service, you should fulfil the following criteria:

  • Have a professional specific degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Have relevant experience at undergraduate/post graduate level.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills including observation, listening and empathy skills.
  • Be registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Be a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.
  • Have knowledge of current legislation and statutory policy frameworks. associated with community care.
  • Can work flexibly to meet the demands of the Service

You will need to be willing to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and be able to demonstrate a good understanding of current evidence-based practice. You will need to have access to transport and the ability to travel around the required geographical area.

IT skills are essential as you will be expected to keep/enter information on an electronic clinical system.
