Job summary
In 2024 we achieved QNWA accreditation with RCPSyCH. This achievement followed a difficult period of quality improvement on the ward but is testament to the work that the did together. There remains quality improvement work for a new ward manager to lead on.
The post holder will provide professional, managerial and robust clinical leadership to a specified ward area.
The post holder is responsible for promoting and assuring robust riskassessment and management processes.
The post holder will manage within the constraints of the identified budget, as directed by the Modern Matron.
The post holder will actively support and participate in the integration of a whole system approach with multidisciplinary working at all times.
The post holder will perform delegated duties on behalf of the Modern Matron in their absence.
The post holder will ensure everyone, including staff, patients and visitors, has their right to be treated with respect and have their values and beliefs maintained and that they treated in such a way that maintains theirprivacy and dignity.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the safe and supportive management of a specified ward area.
The post holder will develop and maintain effective working relationships with external stakeholders ensuring that the service achieves required quality assurance and performance targets.
The post holder will be responsible for the clinical care of all patients within the service, ensuring the physical, psychological and social needs of each patient are enabled to acceptable standards, informedby evidence based practice.
The post holder will be responsible for decision making in response to environmental / situational changes affecting the inpatient environment, and maintaining optimum staffing levels.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all qualified staff comply with their professional code of conduct, reporting any issues raised within this area to the Modern Matron immediately.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that all nursing staff work within the legal requirements of the Mental Health Act (MHA1983) and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA 2005) and are aware of theirprofessional responsibilities regarding the application of this and other relevant legislation e.g. the Care Act ( 2014 ).
