Job summary

This is a backfill post for a part-time (6 sessions) Trust Grade Doctor in the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for a fixed term of 6 months or 5th August, whichever is earlier.

The post holder will be working within a large multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists and creative therapists. The service receives referrals for young people up to the age of 18 from General Practitioners, Social Workers, Education and Paediatricians.

The post will be working in both generic CAMHS and ADHD.

The administrative base is in Kimberworth Place in Rotherham. Most of the clinical work will take place at the central clinical base. However, the post holder will be required to undertake assessments elsewhere, for example, Paediatric Wards, A & E, schools, GP surgeries, occasional home visits. We have adopted a hybrid model of working so some remote working and working from home is now normal practice.

Main duties of the job

1) The post holder, along with other junior doctors inRotherham, will take part in a daily duty rota for first line urgent medical assessments.

2) The post holder will cross cover for junior doctors in Rotherham for annual leave.

3) The post holder may spend some time each week supporting the ADHD post diagnostic nursing team in prescribing and monitoring ADHD medication.

4) The post holder will attend one of the weekly Clinical MDTs.

5) The post holder will be expected to provide appropriate care to patients within the Rotherham area through working closely with the multidisciplinary team through the assessment and treatment of appropriate patients.

  • Must be on the GMC Specialist Register for CAMHS or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT

  • MRC Psych or equivalent higher qualification.
