Job summary

Zone 5-19 Flying Scotsman Team are proud to advertise and recruit to a new post in the Service, for a Trainee Substance Misuse Practitioner.

This exciting opportunity is a secondment post and will work across the Youth Justice Service and Zone 5-19, ensuring that the needs of Young People with Substance Misuse are fully met.

The successful candidate will use skills of a Health Improvement Practitioner, to deliver early help and brief interventions, public health messages and clinical care to Children, Young People and Families under the care of the Youth Justice Service across Doncaster.

This is a trainee position and after completing the relevant courses within an agreed timeframe of 12 months, the option for post holder to progress to a Young Person's Substance Misuse Practitioner (Band 5) will be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Trainee Substance Misuse Worker will undertake defined interventions, delegated and overseen by YJS Social Worker and Substance Misuse specialist practitioner within Zone 5-19.

This will include undertaking initial screening or assessments and review the assessments within1:1 clinical supervision

Contributing to the formulation, development and review of individual care/recovery plans and implement the agreed aspects of the plan in conjunction with other staff.

To participate in evidence based training and interventions that are appropriate for a Recovery Worker to deliver e.g. (Relapse prevention, CBT, care planning , risk assessment).

Identifying complex substance misuse cases and make referrals to Zone 5-19 as appropriate.

Carrying out the relevant clinical competencies required of the post such as Chlamydia screening, to offer a holistic approach to Young Person's Health and well-being

Completion of Level 3: Understanding and Responding to Substance Misuse course.

Completion of Level 2: Motivational Interviewing.
