Job summary

This is a senior clinical role within the new directorates. These posts will line manage some senior psychological professionals and provide clinical expertise within the directorate management team.

This post would allow you to develop leadership & management skills and prepare you for more senior Psychological Professional leadership roles. You will be a collaborative, visible, inclusive & compassionate Lead with values and behaviours that inspire understanding and trust, build inclusion and reduce inequalities.

This post is aimed as aspiring leaders within the senior Psychological Professional field. You would have 1-2 notional half days or equivalent per week to dedicate to this role.

If you work part time you have the option to work the 0.2 WTE as part of your current hours or increase your hours provided this doesn't exceed 37.5 hours. After 2 years we will guarantee you an equivalent role to your original banding for the 0.2 WTE.

Main duties of the job

Each role will be different but is expected that as a minimum you will, together with the other leads in the directorate:

  • Provide evidence based advice on Psychological Professional research & innovation to the Directorate.
  • Be a visible and approachable point of contact to trainees, students, and other learners within the directorate.
  • Undertake specific service improvement projects within the directorate, agreed with the Care Group Director of Psychological Professional.

It is expected that each Lead will work with the Care Group Director of Psychological Professional to develop a bespoke job plan for this part of their job. This will involve working on specific leadership projects within the directorate or beyond and these will be based on the Key Areas of Responsibility & Accountability of the CGD for Psychological Professionals.

It is expected that you will assist the CGD of Psychological Professional with job planning and with some aspects of the line management of Psychological Professionals in their Directorate.

In terms of overall 'therapies' leadership, it is expected that you will assist the CGD with wider therapeutic disciplines, liaising with the Trust Chief AHP and the Trustwide Professional Lead for Social Work where required.
