Job summary
Successful applicants will possess excellent communication skills, be capable of working as part of a team as well as on their own initiative. A mature manner and the exercise of confidentiality and discretion are also important. Previous experience of care is desirable, however not essential. We believe skills are transferable so if you have never worked in a care setting previously then do consider what skills you feel you can bring to the role.
If you don't already have a Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 2apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.
Main duties of the job
You will join a welcoming and supportive team delivering high quality care to people from North Lincolnshire. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills, be capable of working as part of a team as well as using their own imitative (under the direction of a Trained Nurse) and be able to demonstrate a caring and compassionate nature towards others. A mature manner andthe ability to exercise confidentiality and discretion are a must.
a) Assisting patients with activities of daily living that they cannot achieve alone, seeking advice from and reporting to Registered Nurses in demonstrating initiative
b) Always maintaining patient dignity and promoting patient independence. Allowing for individual expression emotionally and of their personality and acting as a chaperone when required.
c) Observing patients and reporting to Registered Nurses verbally and in writing, especially with regard to untoward incidents.
d) Carrying out simple nursing procedures as instructed at the discretion of Registered Nurses, reporting on and recording findings, (e.g. blood pressure, temperature, pulse and respiration rate, maintaining fluid balance charts, diet charts, testing urine, weighing patients).
e) Assisting Registered Nurses in the care of those requiring full nursing care.
f) At the discretion of Registered Nurses, escorting patients between departments in the Hospital and on therapeutic outings.
