Job summary
To support and enhance the professional care of clients within the Rotherham and Doncaster CAMHS Intellectual Disability pathway(s).
To provide psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures
To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics and development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties / Responsibilities - Clinical (75% of the time)3.1 To provide one to one therapy to children with sensitive, emotional and psychological issues, which requires empathy, training, reassurance and motivational skills. This is supervised on a weekly basis by a clinical psychologist via an hour long meeting, as stipulated by the British Psychological Society guidelines.
3.2 To conduct psychometric testing, using specific psychological tools as part of the assessment procedure. Once carried out, these tests are scored and analysed within the role of this job3.3 To conduct and design group therapy sessions to cater for the client group, in a sensitive manner
3.4 To communicate complex and sensitive information empathically and to adapt language when addressing different situations, such as relating information to parents and to children
3.5 To plan individual sessions and researches new possible skills that may benefit a client. Must also have the ability to adjust these plans if the client broaches an incompatible topic within the session
3.6 To be able to sit for a long period of time in a therapy session
3.7 To be able to concentrate and attend to the client's needs within therapy and psychometric testing periods
3.8 To be able to travel between work areas and for school and home appointments
