We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced band 6 Occupational therapist to join our new community rehabilitation service, which is being developed alongside the established Rotherham Assertive Outreach Team. This post is for internal Occupational Therapist colleagues, with mental health experience who are looking for flexible hours and an exciting secondment opportunity to work with adults with complex mental health needs, supporting their recovery journey in community settings. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high quality, person centred care, enabling individuals to achieve their recovery goals and improve their level of community functioning.
The successful candidate will be working with an experienced, comprehensive staff team including a Clinical Lead, Psychiatrist, Psychologists, Occupational therapist, Band 6 Nurses and Community Support Workers to support the transformation agenda and develop an entirely new service for Rotherham patients.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to develop skills within an intensive community setting, and jointly lead on service development and improvement.
Main duties of the job
- Provide specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions for patients with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
- Develop and implement person-cantered, evidence-based treatment plans to support service users in achieving their functional and occupational goals.
- Utilise a recovery-oriented approach to promote service user engagement in meaningful activities and community integration.
- Deliver a range of therapeutic interventions, including but not limited to,activity scheduling, life skills training, vocational support, and emotional regulation strategies.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including a Psychiatrist, psychologist, community psychiatric nurses, and support workers, to deliver coordinated and holistic care.
- Participate in risk assessments and contribute to the formulation and management of risk management plans.
- Liaise effectively with families, carers, and other external agencies to ensure continuity of care and effective discharge planning.
- Engage in service development initiatives and contribute to the ongoing evaluation and improvement of occupational therapy services within the team.
- Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior staff and students, fostering a positive learning environment
