Job summary
Contract: 4 x 1.0 wte Fixed-Term until 31st March 2025
We are recruiting four Assistant Psychologists to work in services across the trust (posts in Doncaster, Rotherham, NLs in various settings). The posts will include supporting audit and research activity, literature review, reviewing patient notes and/or direct clinical work delivered to individuals or as part of a group
The funding for these posts has been acquired through the NHS People Plan and Mental Health Improvement Programme, which aims to support the expansion and diversity of psychological professions in the NHS workforce. Unpaid work and posts with uncertain career pathways to Clinical Psychology have contributed to disproportionate disadvantage for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic psychology graduates, graduates who are socio-economically disadvantaged and psychology graduates who have caring responsibilities.
Main duties of the job
We are inviting applications from psychology graduates who have (1) not worked as an Assistant Psychologist previously (paid or unpaid) and (2) are from one (or more) of the following groups: those from a Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic background; those with a disability; those from LGBT+ communities; or those whose opportunities to work on a voluntary basis in Assistant Psychologist (or similar) roles have been significantly reduced due to caring responsibilities or financial disadvantage.

- The post holder will utilise research skills for audit, literature reviews, service development and other research initiatives.
- To assist with group work contributing to running therapy groups and evaluating the outcome of sessions.
- To utilise agreed outcome measures/service user feedback to refine and develop service delivery in line with the clinical governance agenda.
- The post holder will receive weekly clinical supervision from a psychological professional.
- The post holder will perform delegated tasks within guidelines provided by the supervisor, receive regular supervision/additional supervision/guidance where required
- The post holder will provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity
- To maintain awareness of local resources and self-help materials and the means of their access.
