Job summary
To be responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care on the ward.
To take charge of the ward on a regular basis and acting up in the absence of the Ward Manager.
To provide a positive clinical lead and be seen as a role model to junior staff.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing care needs of a specific group of service users.
To mentor and supervise both qualified and unqualified staff including students, showing strong leadership skills and an ability to run a shift on an acute mental health ward.
To manage the clinical area shift by shift.
To lead the care and role model qualified nurses for the services users on the ward
To participate in ward audits enabling staff to identify any gaps in practice and work
