Job summary

This is an exciting post working in a special service with a wide MDT including psychology lead, nurse prescribers, Parent and Infant Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapists, CPNs, Nursery Nurse and Social worker.

The successful applicant will be providing day to day medical support and service leadership to the Rotherham Community Perinatal Mental Health Team. It is expected that most clinical contacts will be face to face but there is scope for remote working where this is appropriate.

Main duties of the job

1. To work with other members of the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team to provide a comprehensive service to their patients. This will involve formulation, care planning, medication management, diagnostic review, and medical support to other clinicians.

2. To work with the perinatal leadership team to ensure an excellent level of care for patients. This will involve weekly MDT for the purpose of reviewing referrals, medication management, oversight of holistic treatment plan and future care/discharge planning.

3. To work with the Team Manager and perinatal leadership team to ensure that high standards of clinical care are maintained, this will be via regular business planning meetings.

4. To provide clinical supervision for the staff on the teams where necessary.

5. To work with other Consultant Adult Psychiatrists within Rotherham to provide a comprehensive service to the population.

6. To work with the Care Group Medical Directors, Care Group Nurse Directors, Care Group Directors and Service Manager in the forward planning and development of Perinatal Services.

7. To participate in the consultant appraisal process within the Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full registration with the GMC
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry or a trainee within six months of completing their CCT.

Desirable

  • MRC Psych or equivalent higher qualification

Experience

  • Previous experience within General Adult Psychiatry
  • Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings
  • Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance
