Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Doncaster Children's Community Children's Nursing Team to join an established team of nurses. We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Children's Community Staff Nurse (Band 5) to join the Long Term Conditions pathway within the Children's Care Group at RDaSH.
We are a busy service, working with a diverse caseload across Doncaster supporting children and young people (0-19). Our current hours of service are Monday - Friday 08.00 - 18.00.
The service provides nursing care to children, young people and adults with long term conditions, acute and complex health needs. All services are provided within a variety of community settings such as the family home and school.
You will be part of an integrated team working alongside Children's Specialisms (Epilepsy, Continence, Special School Nursing and TB). A stringent training and development package will be available to ensure that the successful candidate develops the skills required to fulfil the nursing needs of the community.
This post offers a great opportunity for a Registered Children's Nurses (RSCN/RNC) with post qualification experience. This is an exciting part time opportunity (30hrs per week) for the successful candidate to further develop nursing skills within the community setting and deliver quality, evidence based care.
Main duties of the job
The organisation is supportive of training needs and there is an excellent learning and development programme. You will receive regular safeguarding and clinical supervision and will have support from the senior team.
To deliver clinical care and nursing intervention in the community to children and young people in Doncaster.
To provide nursing intervention and support to children and young people with short and long term conditions, working with a large MDT to ensure that holistic and individualised care needs are met.
The role will include delivering training and education to families/carers and school staff, palliative and end of life care, safeguarding, transition to adult services, contribution to educational health care plans and working with a wide range of specialisms including local and regional secondary care providers.
You will need to work autonomously with support from the team, holding a small caseload of children/young people delivering interventions such as gastrostomy care, wound care, IV's/IM injection, venepuncture, tracheostomy care and stoma care, (non-exclusive).
