Vacancy Details:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join IT Services in an administrative role within a technical department.

The successful applicant will work alongside and provide support to the Technical Implementation Specialist (Assets and Licensing) to provide a comprehensive, professional and proactive IT purchasing and administrative service to Health Informatics IT Services, through strong administrative, organisational, and project support skills and experience.

Attention to detail is essential, and you will have the ability to communicate with users at all levels of the hierarchy and with differing skill sets.

Basic IT technical knowledge would be useful but is not essential as full support will be given.

You will be based in the Health Informatics Department (IT) at Chestnut View, Woodfield Park, Doncaster. The opportunity to work remotely for part of the time would be available.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work closely with the Technical Implementation Specialist (Assets and Licensing), the Head of IT Support, and the wider IT Services teams to provide a comprehensive and proactive IT purchasing and administrative service.

Some of the main duties include:

  • Process and verify requests for equipment to be issued from IT central stock, monitoring the amount of equipment requested and the expenditure incurred and ensuring the supply of equipment meets Trust agreed provision.
  • Organise the purchasing of IT hardware and software, liaising with equipment suppliers to ensure that delivery is expedited and ensuring that records are kept of delivery and dispatch dates.
  • Raise non-stock requisitions to order IT hardware and software on behalf of the IT Services management team, liaising with suppliers to ensure equipment is provided in accordance with specifications determined by IT technical experts.
  • Provide advice and information to Trust staff and partner organisations for IT equipment, ensuring items conform to agreed standards, and challenging requests for non-standard equipment and software.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers to enable Trust staff and partner organisations to procure the recommended IT equipment and software.
  • Ensure that requisitions are technically appraised and passed to Purchasing in an efficient and timely fashion.
  • Follow the agreed process to order mobile phone handsets and data SIM cards from the mobile provider.
