Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward thinking and dynamic individual to be our Health Care Support worker in our Doncaster Learning Disability (Intellectual Disability) pathway in CAMHs.
This is a short-term post to cover service expansion for a 6-month period until March 2023
This is a perfect taster opportunity to either gain experience in our service prior to any Nurse Training in the LD field or simply to try out the role in this specialist team.
The service is community and family focussed providing assessment, intervention, advice, and support to children with complex needs arising from an Intellectual Disability (learning disability) which may be accompanied with, autism, adhd or emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Support children, young people and families with Intellectual Disabilities and complex needs through, one to one and group work under supervision of qualified staff.
- Undertake health observations of height, weight, and blood pressure and complete relevant record keeping.
- Be able to work in a variety of settings such as school, home and group settings
- Undertake behavioural observations with supervision
- Provide and receive information from clients, client's representatives, and immediate team colleagues. Exchanges factual information to clients via adapted communication, reassurance, tact, empathy and out of the box thinking.
- Overcome barriers to understanding that may be a result of a Learning Disability.
- Organise own diary and workload in line with job plan, have the ability to be able to adapt and prioritise.
- Have a can-do attitude, sense of humour and adhere to the trusts Values.
