Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the role of a Specialist Grade Doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery within East Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust. This role is essential to the effective functioning of the Oral & Maxillofacial Department.

As a Specialist Doctor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, you will provide a senior role in the provision of specialised and expert care to patients with complex oral and maxillofacial conditions. Your primary responsibility is to support the clinical team in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients requiring interventions, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to provide leadership within the department and educational and clinical supervision to more junior staff members.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor of Dental Surgery or equivalent
  • MBBS (or equivalent)
  • Completed a minimum of 12 years' medical work (either as a continuous period or in aggregate) since obtaining a primary medical qualification, of which a minimum of 6 years should have been in a relevant specialty, and meets the criteria set out in the generic capabilities framework for the specialist grade

Desirable

  • MRCS/ MFDS/ FDS one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons

Registration

Essential

  • Full GMC/ GDC Registration (with licence to practice)

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

Essential

  • Competent in dento-alveolar and surgical dermatology
  • Competet to run theatre lists independently
  • Competent to manage all on call trauma/ emergencies
  • Up-to-date ALS/ ATLS
  • Clinical governance: Capacity to be alert to dangers or problems

Desirable

  • Educational Supervisor experience

  • Evidence of active participation in audit.
