If the answer is yes - we would love to have you join us for this exciting opportunity to cover the current postholder's maternity leave as the Lead Pharmacy Technician for Education and Development at East Sussex NHS Healthcare Trust.

We are looking for a dynamic person to lead the education, training and continual professional development of all Pharmacy technical and support staff in the Trust. You will lead, manage and administer the apprenticeship training for pharmacy technicians and assistants in the Trust. You will support the development of members of the wider multidisciplinary team within the trust. This role will provide a unique opportunity to build relationships with stakeholders both within the trust and nationally to develop training programmes in line with national requirements.

We are committed to working with our prescribers and nursing colleagues to help deliver the best care for patients and we actively support pharmacists and technicians in developing the skills needed to play a part in this multi-disciplinary team. You will be required to provide a clinical pharmacy service to the wards across ESHT, maintaining your own clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

This post is ideally full-time (37.5 hours per week) but part-time hours and job shares will be considered.

To act as Educational Programme Director and line manager for the Specialist Pharmacy Technician for Education & Development and the PTPTs.

To be responsible for the management, organisation and delivery of education, training and development of Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians & Pharmacy support staff within ESHT.

To act as Pharmacy Apprenticeship lead and work closely with ESHT Apprenticeship Leads promoting pharmacy careers at ESHT.

To liaise with local, regional and national bodies as required to ensure a quality educational program that responds to and meets professional and NHS requirements.

Supporting the technical team in developing, delivering and assessing practice activities to allow development of pharmacy support staff in core service needs.

To lead on the recruitment and selection process for trainee support staff.

To support seven day working, pharmacy staff work Saturdays, Sundays, bank holidays on a rotational basis. The post holder would be expected to join this rota.

Essential

  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Practice Supervisor certification
  • Evidence of continued professional development related to the job role
  • Appropriate qualification as a Pharmacy Technician (BTEC / NVQ level 3)

Desirable
