Cardiac physiology is a healthcare career combining applied science, high-end technology and direct patient-facing care.

We are looking for an apprentice to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to study for a BSc degree in Cardiac Physiology whilst also working in the Cardiology Departments of East Sussex Healthcare. The course combines part-time study at University with paid work placement.

Entry requirements for the degree are English Maths and ICT at level 2. Previous applicants have been school leavers, HCAs or people with alternative science degrees looking for a new direction - regardless of background if you have the right blend of scientific application, compassion and team-working you will be perfect for the role.

Main duties of the job

Study a part time BSc in Cardiac Physiology

Study a work-based program of practical learning in Cardiac Physiology, completing a comprehensive workbook to track your progress in Cardiac Science and Cardiac Diagnostics.

Learn to assist and perform Electrocardiograms, haemodynamic monitoring, Holter monitoring, ECG analysis, pacemaker follow up and echocardiography.

Work as a cardiac physiologist as part of the Cardiology teams.

  • Experience in Cardiological nursing as a band 5
  • Voluntary registration with RCCP
  • Evidence of continued professional development in relevant subject or equivalent level of knowledge and experience

  • Academy of Healthcare sciences PTP/STP equivalence
