Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the H&N/ ENT & Voice SLT team for a Band 7 developing specialist / specialist in H&N / ENT & Voice. This role is open to existing Band 6 or Band 7 SLTs who meet the criteria and who are looking for an opportunity to develop their clinical specialism in the area of H&N / ENT & Voice. You may be already working in a B6 or B7 role in the ESHT SLT team or may be looking from outside the Trust and yourcurrent role must fit the essential criteria of the person specification.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a small and enthusiastic team consisting of a B8a Clinical lead ACP and a B7 and B6 SLT covering East Sussex with hospital and outpatient bases in Hastings and Eastbourne. We are a Trust Award winning service (2023), commended for its forward thinking and passion to create new and exciting innovations to improve patient care and safety. We can offer you protected time for your CPD with clinical forums, regular clinical supervision, action learning supervision, support to attend relevant CENs and external training opportunities. We are proactive in research and service development and staff are encouraged to attend postgraduate courses/ RCSLT CENs. There is also a comprehensive in-service education programme within Therapy Services. We have close links with the local School of Healthcare Professions at the University of Canterbury and Brighton and other universities Temporary accommodation may be available and there are good social facilities within the Trust.

East Sussex is an exciting place to live with cosmopolitan Brighton, London and Europe within easy reach. The Sunshine coast is beautifully tranquil and for the more adventurous the Downs offer hiking, mountain biking and paragliding! Essential

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification of equivalent
  • Health Professionals Council - Licence to Practice
  • Registered Member of Royal college of Speech and Language Therapists

Desirable

  • Advanced Laryngectomy Care ESTIL/Voice training Laryngeal manipulation
  • Completion of specialist short courses as evidenced by: Dysphagia training (which may include): Dysphagia rehabilitation, Outcomes in dysphagia management, videofluorosopy interpretation, FEES interpretation, respiratory related disorders, Enteral/paraneteral feeding, Ethics, tracheostomy management
  • Surgical voice restoration
  • Voice therapy techniques
  • Training in clinical supervision

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing dysphagia and communication disorders
  • Experience of joint goal setting and evaluation with patients
  • Experience of developing, providing and evaluating training programmes to other professionals
  • Experience of managing complex caseload and ongoing service development work
