Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Ward Clerk in the Irvine Unit, Bexhill Hospital.

You will be part of a team of Ward Clerks responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to the department, recording admission/transfer/discharge information, making follow up appointments where appropriate and supporting the nursing and multidisciplinary teams with general administration.

You will need to deal with challenges, perform under pressure and be able to prioritise your workload. The ideal candidate will be computer literate & flexible with good communication and customer service skills.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly including weekend working within the service hours

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a comprehensive multi-faceted, wide range of administrative and clerical duties to the ward to support the Nursing and Medical staff in the smooth day to day running of the ward area. They will be responsible for the safe keeping and availability of all clinical records relating to patients and the smooth running of the ward / department office. They will also provide general assistance in the management and adherence of Trust Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) relating to the ward area.
