Job summary
We are looking to support four people to undertake this popular Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) degree as a fully supported apprenticeship based locally with the support of Canterbury Christ Church University from the 2023 academic year. The start date is proposed to be prior to a university start in September to allow the successful applicant some time to be orientated to the theatre department. The course lasts three years, Students attend university for block weeks for 20% of their time and have clinical placements within the Trust to meet their learning outcomes. On successful completion of the course applicants will be able to register with the professional body of the Health and Care Professions Council for the titled professional role of Operating Department Practitioner and also be a registered Allied Health Professional
Main duties of the job
The main duties of this role are in supporting the delivery of anaesthetics with an anesthetists, participating with the theatre staff in the provision of surgery in the scrubbed and non scrubbed role and also the recovery of our patients post operatively.
