Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Cardiologist post with a special interest in Heart failure and virtual wards in East Sussex Healthcare Trust.
This is an exciting time to join a progressive and dynamic cardiology department with supportive colleagues, working together to improve the cardiac health of our diverse local population.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague to join our team and work to deliver consultant led, efficient, safe and patient centered best practice in Cardiology. The successful applicant would be joining a busy, forward-thinking cardiology department which is continuously looking to innovate and improve services. There are opportunities to support cross sectional Imaging as well as joint multidisciplinary heart failure team and supporting our newly developing heart failure virtual ward.
The appointee should hold a CCST and be accredited in Cardiology as well as cardiac imaging ( BSE ) Heart Failure. They will form part of the cardiology CCU rota.
This is a cross site post.
The post-holder will join a team of 11 Consultant Cardiologists, and will be part of the development of a multi-disciplinary team approach to care within the speciality of cardiology.

- MB BS or equivalent
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians
- Full Registration with GMC
- On Specialist Register on date of taking up appointment or to have obtained CCT in Cardiology within 6 months of interview
Desirable
Training and experience
Essential
- Wide experience in all aspects of Cardiology, with a specialist interest culminating in the award of a CCT
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical diagnosis and care of patients with a broad range of cardiac conditions.
- Competence in all areas of cardiac devices and pacing, with extensive experience in the management of Heart Failure
Desirable
- Evidence of at least one year of sub-speciality training in electrophysiology within a dedicated fellowship programme, either in a high-volume UK EP centre or an overseas centre
Administration Management
Essential
- Evidence of participation in management
- Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal
- Previous Managerial experience or Strong Research
