We deliver services across acute, intermediate care and community services and we are looking for somebody to work with the organisation as well as GPs, practice staff and patients to achieve a different kind of future for our services.

We are looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing to join the Community Health and Integrated Care Division whos ambition is to deliver excellent care to our population while looking after the people who do the caring.

This will be part time as a job share with the working hours of 0.6wte (22.5 hours) PB8C

Key Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for leading the CHIC quality and clinical governance programme.
  • Have a proven track record of delivering quality improvements in nursing care
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders across Sussex.
  • Support the implementation of the clinical governance framework.
  • Support the development of policies and procedures and ensure policies are embedded in practice.
  • Support practices with delivery of their quality action plans.

Person Specification



  • Qualified Nurse /AHP with Current NMC / HCPC professional Registration
  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level in specialist area
  • Leadership qualification or proven experience
  • Significant evidence of continued professional development to masters or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of the wider Health Economy, local and national priorities and initiatives



  • Demonstrated clinical expertise at a senior level in a Healthcare environment
  • Significant Management experience at senior level in the NHS or other public healthcare related industry
  • Evidence of delivery and development of services and holding others to account
  • Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information,
  • Experience in leading a change initiative
  • Experience of motivating and inspiring staff to work together to achieve a common objective


  • Substantial Experience of operating in and delivering priorities in a partnership environment



  • Demonstrates expert understanding of professional nursing and corporate issues including governance and compliance
  • Ability to act as a role model for effective leadership
  • Strong external communications skills in a politically sensitive environment and experience in handling media
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to critically analyse, problem solve and prioritise multiple demands
  • Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using broad experience to make informed inferences and decision making
  • Ability to analyse complex numerical and written data, develop and assess options and draw appropriate initiatives
  • Ability to make decisions autonomously, when required, on difficult issues
