We seek to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is passionate about CYP mental health. You will be a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner/ CYP Wellbeing Practitioner, registered with a professional body, and have experience of working in a Child and Young person Mental Health Support Team. You will also currently be studying to become a Senior Wellbeing Practitioner or willing to undertake this 2 year training within 12 months of starting this post.

The Mental Health Support Teams are part of a project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties in Wirral Primary Schools.

The main focus of Mental health Support teams is:

To provide support and advice to school staff through consultation and training

To work with children and young people 1-1 or through group work

To support schools in their development of a Whole School Approach to Mental Health

This is a permanent position, full-time but part-time or flexible hours may be considered.

Main duties of the job

The Senior EMHP / CYWP for MHST will be a senior practitioner within MHST with a particular focus on whole school approach (WSA). Their primary responsibilities will be to:

- Have a clear understanding and prior working knowledge of the WSA ethos and the underlying WSA principles.

- Develop and Co-ordinate the WSA offer for 102 Wirral Schools, alongside Clinical Leads and Clinical Co-ordinators.

- Collaborate with Senior Mental Health Leads in schools to complete a needs assessment that determines the most appropriate and effective WSA activities MHST in individual schools.

- Co-ordinating evaluation of WSA activities to ensure effectiveness of the Wirral MHST offer.

- Audit of WSA activities across the team and contribute to the data and reporting of the team's WSA activity which ensures accurate reporting to local, regional, and national commissioners.

- Scoping new resources and programmes which might be of value in Wirral and engaging with other MHSTs to establish models of best practice.

- Managing a small caseload of children and young people presenting with complex mental health difficulties.

  • Qualified Post Graduate Certificate or above from a provider university as part of the CYP-IAPT programme e.g. EMHP, CWP or Core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional)
  • Professional registration with recognised National Body (BACP, BABCP) or Professional Registration with recognised National Body (HCPC, NMC, Social Work England)
  • Nationally recognised post-qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to the core profession (Social Work, Nurse, Allied Health Professional). OR Nationally recognised post-qualification, continuous professional development (CPD) related to EMHP/CWP
