This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a small friendly team as an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor within the Mental Health Homeless Team . You will work alongside our Specialist Homeless Practitioner to support those people in the community who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Part of this role will also involve working with the Birkenhead CMHT to provide expert advice and support to services users under the care of the team.
You will provide housing related support to vulnerable adults from various and complex backgrounds, to support them with independent living, providing them with support to improve their skills, resilience, and pathways to independence.
We work in partnership with agencies such as drugs and alcohol service, Social Care, Secondary Mental health services and 3rd sector charity and voluntary organisations.
Main duties of the job
You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs relating to: mental ill health, physical health & substance use needs. You will also play a key part in reducing the risk of re-offending, liaising with external professionals, preventing homelessness and promoting the independence and social inclusion of these clients.
We are looking for a resilient and committed individual who has an understanding of the problems faced by individuals finding themselves homeless or in insecure accommodation and who enjoys a challenge. Experience of substance misuse would be beneficial though we will provide training. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, and with a positive and engaging approach to our service users and staff.
