Job summary

To manage and undertake physiotherapy intervention to a designated caseload with complex needs, gaining experience through involvement in a specialist clinical area.

To provide a high quality, effective physiotherapy service to MSK patients in outpatients across the Western Cheshire Joint Therapies MSK service, and professional leadership to junior and assistant physiotherapy staff.

To provide a specialist physiotherapy assessment of patients with diverse clinical presentation and pathology to determine a clinical diagnosis and provide treatment via therapeutic interventions as indicated and develop effective treatment plans.

This post reports to senior physiotherapists, professional lead for physiotherapy, team leaders and is accountable to Lead Therapist MSK and ultimately the Head of Joint Therapy Services.

Please note, this post will also be considered as a band 5 training post for those with limited post-graduate MSK experience, upon completion of set competencies uplift to a band 6 role will be possible.

Main duties of the job

Our Teams provide MSK services across acute and community based settings, and as such we can offer you experience working in a range of clinical environments to enable you to develop your skills with postoperative, rehabilitation, and primary care patients. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our Advanced Practitioners, and will be able to build excellence in patient assessment and treatment techniques.

We will support your ongoing development through funding for external courses, regular in-house training sessions and clinical supervision, along with annual appraisal and personal development planning. We operate rotations through our different MSK areas to maximise learning opportunities and ensure that we can help you build fully rounded clinical skills. We have an extensive number of First Contact Practitioners in addition to our Advanced Practitioners, and can offer career development towards either.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in MSK, along with solid time management and team working skills. We welcome applications from those already working in an MSK post, but will also consider applications from those looking to move into their first static role.
